Woe is to be me

My nights with them are too short. Now that Benjamin has homework (HOMEWORK!), our nights have been spent like this; dinner, homework, shower, a little Youtube time while I try my darndest to have the world's fastest shower before Jeb kicks down the door, milk and then off to bed.

So all in all, I'll spend like maximum 2 hours wake time with them?

And it doesn't help at all when even that little time I have, almost half of it is spent on disciplining the boys. My helper has no power over them and when some guy gets up to mischief or is being defiant on purpose, I have no choice but to do it.

I (insert F bomb) hate it.

Not that I have to discipline them, but it is the emotional turmoil within me that makes me feel terrible every single night.

I hate that they have to end up in tears before bed. I hate that I have to be the one doing it. I hate that they might come to associate me with cane and pain every time I come home.

And slowly, they might dread me coming home.

I just. I don't know.

But I guess I still have to do it.

Not bad at all

I started the new year with a Big Bang (concert "live" on TV!) and also, it seems like my suppressed domesticated side finally showed up.

My Big Bang party partner stayed up till 1 am!

Can I just say I don't follow instructions well. At all. Especially written instructions. But when I do, my food actually turns out pretty decent. When it doesn't, my husband would have to do some intensive damage control. Or I just force it down my kids throat. Just kidding! Not. No really. Just kidding!

Pumpkin Fish pasta from here

So my philosophy when it comes to cooking is this. The less ingredients, the better. The less steps to follow, the better. The easiest way to cook, the better!

Behold my Honey Baked Chicken Wings!

I did followed pretty much the instructions in marinating the chicken! Although I ended up sloshing everything into the mix because YOLO. Does anyone still uses this phrase or is it so 2014? Or 2009? Never mind.

In went the chicken...

And out came this...

Looks so good right! Taste not that bad either.

I guess 2015 is the year where I'll be channelling all my inner Nigella, Jamie, Gordon and whoever in terms of my culinary skills. I guess I'll let you all know when the year end comes around again.

UPDATE: Apparently my cooking prowess lasted only till the second week when I caused a power failure at home while cooking. With the oven. And my salmon wasn't even cooked yet, that's what made me even more angry.

But as what good ole Arnie would say, "I'll be back."
